We are changing our business model!

We are changing our business model!

Dear clients, friends and colleagues: The internet is ever-changing, and so is the field of website design. After doing a huge amount of soul searching and contemplation I have decided to take our design service in a new direction. The past few months have been hard. Design and development have become an incredibly competitive industry over the last few years. We have been making websites for over 20 years, and in the last 5 years it has been harder and harder to obtain new clients in the industries we enjoy working with. This is the result of many things, but I think the most obvious is price. Our price for years has been under major agencies prices, with our average site costing between $1500 and $5000. We have always worked hard to provide the best possible design and service, and to always be accessible to our clients. There have been so many times I have sat down for a consultation with someone and when we come to price I see the look on their faces: They want the service, but that they just cant come to grips with that type of investment right now. It is time to change the way we price great websites. Websites MUST be affordable for small business. Currently there are a LOT of challenges to the small design group in our industry. We have all seen the ads on TV or your favorite blog: “Cookie Cutter site systems”,  “Create a free website here”, “Website hosting for a penny” and so on. No matter how many developers are out there telling people to avoid these marketing traps, people...

We want to assure you that when it comes to your website, not only are our websites affordable and functional, you can count on us to manage your project efficiently and to maintain open communication with you the whole project so that not only do you not loose track of 250 million dollars. You have a wonderful website, built to your expectations and completed on...

Q&A From Thumbtack.com

Q&A From Thumbtack.com

I was registering our business on Thumbtack today, and part of the registration process is a Question and Answer. Well I thought they were some really great qustions and were worthy of a blog post. Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients. A. Our most common jobs are website facelifts and bringing a clients website up to date to match current trends. We also provide a lot of maintenance services to wordpress clients who want their website to stay updated and secure. We do quite a bit of ground-up design as well. Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you? A. Remember you usually get what you pay for, but that does not mean you have to be robbed. Very few developers have set prices because the complexity of a website is going to vary based upon YOUR needs. The website you get from the college student down the street is going vary greatly both in cost and quality from the seasoned designer. When contacting web designers it helps to have a good idea of what you want out of a website. Knowing ahead of time how you want your website to interact with your clients and how it should show off your brand is very helpful during those initial conversations. It is equally useful if you’re new to the idea of having a website that your website is an essential part of your complete marketing plan, but it is not the whole plan. You still need to back up your brands presence with additional...
